2003: Florida Marlins def. New York Yankees
2002: Anaheim Angels def. San Francisco Giants
2001: Arizona Diamondbacks def. New York Yankees
2000: New York Yankees def. New York Mets

There has been a different world champion the past 6 years and a bunch of different teams have played in the Series, including smaller market teams like the Florida Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks.
