Wolfmother is good. It's not their fault they aren't pop-punk/emo/"alternative"/indie and don't sound like most other bands out there. With that said, I actually find it very easy for people not to like them. The singer doesn't exactly have the most welcoming voice, just like Geddy from Rush.
