You know, it's funny. In my first year of playing, I snapped two E strings. That wasn't even doing anything fancy. That was playing single notes, using my thumb. It was either a shitty bass (It was borrowed) or I was using too much force. Since then, I've not had an issue, but I'm always a bit amazed how rarely strings break on a bass, since I broke two so close together.

However, it's not the strings I'm worried about.
