Didn't know there was a "body type" for a pitcher... as for Randy Johnson, anyone over a certain height gets compared to him.
He probably would have been fine as an NFL WR, he has the ability.
That being said, he made a good choice, "Samardzija said longevity and the chance of injury were not major factors in his decision to go with baseball over football."
Might not have been, but makes sense to me.
Also, he got a good deal for baseball.
5yrs, 10 million with a 2.5mil signing bonus (I'm not 100% if the 2.5 is part of the 10mil) and there are cubs options for year 6 and 7 which turns it into a 16.5mil deal.
Plus he got a no trade clause put in, which is very rare in mlb these days, especially someone that young.
There was also mention about him offering to give back the signing bonus over the 5yrs, I'm not sure if that was if he changes his mind, or if the major league team calls him up and has the cap room, the espn article doesn't specify.
