What do you call a guy who hangs around with musicians?

...A drummer.

Anyway, I play trombone, guitar, bass, piano, and percussion all to varying degrees of success.

I played trombone because I had few choices when I was younger in terms of what I could play with hands that mirror one another. I've got beter coping mechanisms for that now, so I can work around it somewhat.

I purchased a keyboard for working on music theory homework. It's cheap. A Wal-Mart Casio. It's good enough.

When I was working with a guitarist, the main problem I had was that our drummer was always a no-show. So I picked up a pair of bongos, and played some simple rhythms. I can play more complex stuff on bongos, but not while singing. Roger Taylor, I ain't.

Then I picked up geetar just to play for demos. That and bass.

Practical reasons, all.
