He died whilst in the middle of filming "Ernest the Pirate" I think. (Can't remember now, think that's what I read).

Also the one with that big cannon, can't remember what it was called. Ernest had that crown stuck on his head and the guy was shooting at him, and all we see is Ernest's crown dodging bullets.
