At least that's how I was brought up to believe.

That's pretty good, except I've seen "Three Way Dance" Matches that have been one fall. I believe there were both "Elimination Style" and one fall "Three Way Dance" bouts in ECW and other organizations, while "Triple Threat" was the WWF(/E)'s term.
