Jesus, it's based (loosely) on history from over thousands of years ago lol. Of course the ideals in it aren't going to be something we can fully agree on. Greeks were all about the faux democracy and being "free" people. It doesn't change the fact that the Spartans were inherently badass motherfuckers, which was the entire point of the movie.
