The thing that bothers me about McGwire is that he's being shut out of the HoF based on hearsay. People assume he took steroids but where's the proof? Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? He may seem like an obvious user but until there's proof then it's not fair to crucify him. What if the guy was just a great slugger who happened to play in a bad period? He's the guy that resurrected the sport in the 90s and if he's clean he should be honored as one of the good guys of the game. Why doesn't he get the benefit of the doubt like Griffey, Thome, Frank Thomas or Manny Ramirez get?
