What a crap WrestleMania card.
I remember on the road to WrestleMania 19, I was so hyped for so many different matches on the card: Jericho/HBK, Austin/Rock, Booker T/HHH, Angle/Lesnar. The next year at 20, I was stoked to see Benoit get his big title shot in the main event, Angle/Guerrero, the return of the Rock n Sock Connection, and Goldberg/Lesnar.
This year, there's not really anything that grabs me and makes me say "Yes, this is a confrontation that I NEED to see to the end." I could give a shit less about McMahon/Trump. I'm not even sure how that stupid fucking feud started to begin with; probably because it was completely lacking in all forms of logic and was completely shoved down our throats (like all of McMahon's feuds). Lashley and Umaga don't entertain me. This shit isn't even for the ECW Title.
HBK/Cena is going to be interesting. I'm kind of curious to see if Michaels can pull a five star performance out of John Cena, which, in my opinion, would be the first occurence of its kind (whens the last time Cena had a 5 star match? Ever?). I don't honestly care who wins or who loses, as the WWE Championship has really become completely meaningless to me, and neither character is really that interesting. I'm simply waiting to see if the match itself is any good or not. Michaels usually pulls out all the stops at Mania and puts on a hell of a performance.
Taker/Batista? Who gives a shit. Honestly. Taker can only go with certain people (Kurt Angle and... uh... huh... I guess just Angle), and his character has lost almost all of its mystique. Batista is just Batista. He can't put on a good match to save his life unless its with Triple H, and the man has lost all of his intensity, and doesn't deserve to carry the World Heavyweight Title. The match will be poor, and the only redemption I can see coming from this would be Taker pummeling Batista into the ground and taking the belt.
Money in the Bank will be good, but really, did they need to cram so many of WWE's best young stars into ONE Mania match? Orton vs. Edge had a perfect set up, and they backed out of it. Jeff Hardy could be defending the IC Title, but that fat shit Umaga took it, for little to no reason. CM Punk deserves a singles match on the Mania card, simply due to the fact that he's very very over. Still, the high spot fest should be good for what it's worth.
MVP/Benoit is a waste of Chris Benoit. The New Breed/ECW Originals match is a waste of Rob Van Dam, but could be a good match, none the less. I do not care about the Women's match, and I'm not really sure of what else to expect. Maybe a Cruiserweight open or something? Who knows.
All in all, a very lackluster WrestleMania card.
