He can be very solid in the ring. His Spinebuster and Batista Bomb used to be two of the most powerful looking moves in WWE. Not that it takes a lot, when the choice of finishers for new guys is "the ropes" (For heels) and "handshake" (for faces), but still.

And promos aside, he has great charisma. You don't work that "poorly" in the ring and get that kind of reaction consistently for no reason.
