For what it's worth, 300 is a comic book.

Frank Miller wrote a comic that used Thermopylae as a backdrop, but is about as historical as Stargate was. You know, thousands of years ago thre Greeks (Egyptians) existed, and that's about it.

On the other hand, it has the proseltysing, poorly written and inorganic speeches which are trademarked of the same movies you're complaining about, and it has the shitiest action sequences I've ever seen. I never thought I'd be BORED by a bunch of guys killing large exotic animals in a fight.
