When I read the outcome to the show, I believed Punk would turn on the New Breed at a later date, but they really should keep him in there, if he's going to be anywhere. The Originals are all drunks/stoners. They can't even walk without painkillers. It makes sense Punk would be against them.

I'd personally like to see Punk become the leader of the New Breed, which pisses Elijah Burke off, leading to Burke turning face and feuding with Punk.
