The only problem with alterring a character's motivation based on fan reaction is that it can lead to nearly schizophrenic tendencies. One day, Kennedy is cheered against Jamie Noble, and is the face; the next day he's booed against Taker, and has to play the bad guy. It'd just be a little bi-polar in the character development of any given wrestler.

On the other hand, Christian is an excellent example of what you're talking about. He was heel for so long that people got to know him and loved his heelishness. Plus, he was a funny and a great showman, so the fans liked him, regardless. But as soon as he started getting the big cheers, the company snubbed him. On the other other hand, You've got Boo Masta J, who's future potential may be permenantly damaged by his perpetual faceness in the the wake of the company's forced ignorance of the fanbase's disapproval. Besides, if you turn him heel now, he's got no heel to be: he doesn't rap, he's not an authentic wigger anymore -- he doesn't even wear the damn chain that his grade school boys are named for.

That, and when he turns heel, the fans'll pop b/c it's about damn time, the company will hear said pop, and thusly change him back b/c "he's getting cheered" and "we listen to the fans".
