Batista winning was always the logical outcome, and now that the second choice is gone, it does seem even more likely, but there is an another road the WWE could take.

The Undertaker successfully defends the World Heavyweight Championship successfully against Batista, and gets one positive defence under his reign before he is forced to drop the title due to injury. Then they can do a tournament (they could maybe even call it the King of the Ring, so they can have the winner get an extra boost by winning both) for the vacant title.

* Batista
* Finlay
* Chris Benoit
* Montel Vontavious Porter
* Kane
* William Regal
* Dave Taylor
* Matt Hardy

Fuck Mark Henry and The Boogeyman. Batista defeats Finlay, because let's face it, Batista is the bigger draw. Chris Benoit and MVP work their magic again, I'm going to assume MVP will be US Champion by the time this match happens, so Benoit goes over cleanly with the Crippler Crossface. Kane manages to beat Regal with a Chokeslam, in a match that allows Regal to get some offence in. Hardy gets to be Taylor's first "real" opponent in the WWE. It doesn't do him any good, as Hardy picks up the victory.

Yeah, this gives us four faces advancing. Who gives a shit? Chris Benoit does his best to get another great match out of Batista. Will he succeed? Maybe. Benoit does the job, to the Batista Bomb. Kane plays the heel in his match with Matt Hardy, and although Hardy makes a comeback, he eventually eats a Chokeslam for the pin.

The finals of the tournament are set: Batista vs. Kane. These two men had a great little outing on SmackDown! a few weeks back, so this could be a better man than what is sounds on paper. Kane goes over here, and wins his first World Heavyweight Championship.
