Rob Van Dam fucked up his push, yes, but no one has ever accused him of anything otherwise. I don't see where this drug incident flaming of Van Dam is coming from. I don't see anyone arguing that he didn't fuck up his push, only that he should have gotten it earlier, and the WWE did their best to hold up and tame down RVD.
I'm not the biggest fan of him, but I wish the guy well, as he genuinely has an aura about him that draws regular fans in. He's one of those guys that's just easy to like, recognise and get behind. TNA is foolish if they don't come up with an offer. Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn for the TNA X-Division Championship would kick ass.
Some people have suggested Ring of Honor, and I think that is certainly a possibility for Van Dam, too. He's not the most technical guy in the world, but I'm sure he's got enough sense to stick to his strengths, and work great matches based on what he does have going for him.
I'd like to throw Japan out there. I'm pretty sure they'd love the guy. He's a big star in America, he wears bright costumes, he's pretty iconic, and he has the martial arts thing going on. The more successful gaijin in Japan at the moment are Giant Bernard, Bison Smith, Buchanan and D'Lo Brown. Rob Van Dam could easily become Western culture's top prospect over there.
