Yes, because people are so horrendously stupid they couldn't figure out that a different actor can play the same role. And putting something as simple as "Five Years Later..." At the beginning would certainly be incomprehensable to them.

But the fact of the matter is, even if a new young actor played Spiderman, a new Spiderman movie with a new cast and crew would suck and you're an idiot if you think otherwise. It's a waste of time and money. Why not use that money and energy to donate to a charity instead of making a crappy movie no one is going to like?

Forgive me if I lack faith in your word that it'll bomb simply because of a different cast.

It's amazing how ebullient people tend to get over the prospect of failure.

The only reason why they're making new Spiderman movies is because the others brought in money and as long as something brings money in, they're gonna keep shipping them out. But making a new movie with a new cast is almost like the studio's way of trying to kill off the series once and for all because they know a new cast and crew will ruin the series.

Well, you certainly would know more about filmmaking than the guys making it, after all.

And no, it's not "almost like."

Part IV will come out and blow ass and parts V and VI will most likely go straight to DVD...but as long as the studio gets their money, that's all they care about and they already made millions from the character so I doubt they care anymore.

But...But you just said that they would continue to release them as long as they made money! Hell, you also just said that they don't care about the character! Why, then, would they even release a fifth after the fourth bombed?
