I think there really is a tasteful way to play off Burke, Jr.'s background whilst remaining tasteful, and resorting to a Nathan Jones-like dead-end gimmick. It could be used to explain why MVP is wears the attire he does, why he wears custom-made suits, and why he he basically embraces the fast-lane lifestyle.

I can just imagine JBL screaming at Michael Cole "This man was in prison for 9 1/2 years, Michael! He has turned his life around and become the highest paid athlete in sports entertainment history! How can you fault a man who scooped himself out of the gutter and found something he was good at and made a fortune doing it well? He has the right to dress how he wants, talk how he wants and do what he wants..."
