You'll note that he had "skillz" when he was rapping, heelish, and used moves like "the throwback." You're making it out to be some huge conspiracy when it's a very, very, very simple formula...Change the character to somethnig less interesting and force him down our throats, and we won't like him.
There was an Austin-esque anti-hero on the horizon, and people were excited about that. What they got was a Hogan-esque bore.
What about Angle? Benoit? Eddie? Oh, we turned our backs on them.
And while you're making up instances, Lashley? Everyone loved him. Except, of course, they didn't. Oh, and John Morrison. People have turned on him! Except, of course, they haven't. 5 examples from the last few years. Could probably pull more, too. Just honestly don't give enough of a shit to go through the title history.
