I don't understand why the WWE makes its top faces do that. Orton, Lesnar, Guerrero, Angle, Batista, etc., etc., etc. you name them.

Even The Rock started to slowly and steadily lose his popularity once he started to suck up to the fans.

The Rock was at the PEAK of his popularity in late 99' to early/mid 2000 when he DIDN"T suck up to the fans (i.e. he was technically a face, but still acted like a massive prick!). Interestingly enough, The Rock almost COMPLETELY regained his popularity during his heel run in 2003.

Same thing as Austin in 98'. Austin, though technically a face, still acted like a massive prick.

I think this is one reason why Undertaker has always been one of the most successful characters for the WWE. Whether he's a face or he's a heel....Taker's character stays constant. Taker NEVER sucks up to the fans as a face (heck....he even murdered Paul Bearer a few years ago! ).

When Batista initially turned face, that's another reason why he was successful. His lack of mic skills actually worked to his advantage! (Batista didn't even have the ability to suck up to the fans ). Batista started to get stale when he kissed the fans' ass (i.e. ever since he returned from his major injury last year).
