I’m with Jordan X here...despite what the rest of you have said, nobody can dispute his wrestling prowess. He’s OBVIOUSLY a damn near perfect brawler AND ring technician who’s been around 17 years (give or take a day or so), who doesn’t fool around in the ring. He gets down to business, takes care of it, and leaves with his paycheck. He should be a role model to the younger superstars of how to stay out of trouble with drugs, drinking, 'roids and all that other stuff that seems to land the new guys in hot water with somewhat alarming regularity.
Now, I never said he was perfect, but he’s obviously the brightest shining star on SmackDown right now, and I just think it’s a crying fucking shame that Vince probably doesn’t have the courage or the decency to give a 17-year-veteran one more run with the belt. Even though tomorrow’s match would seemingly favor Taker in the environment he’s used to, Batista has been in HIAC, as well, and quite frankly I fear a swerve (i.e., a big “FUCK YOU” from Vince to all who are cheering on Taker tomorrow night, like myself) coming.
However, I do feel that should Taker win the belt tomorrow, he should keep it at least until WrestleMania XXIV, where we could have the main event be like a tri-branded Unification match, where the ECW, World and WWE titles are all rolled in to one (because let’s face it, we all know none of these titles has a shred of it’s original legacy/lineage/dignity left in it after how Vince has watered them all down the last 6 years or so...), and have the brand split end. Then as Mania draws near it's close, Vince comes down, congratulates Taker, and Taker announces his retirement, the belt is vacated, and we start with a fresh slate with whoever's left on March 31st, 2008.
