They took a charismatic, fun, flirty character and made him mope about and obsess with death and his own lack of mortality, for one.

Not to mention, the lack of the sense of adventure in the Doctor Who series. Torchwood was not just primarily focused around Cardiff, but seemed to take little interest in the rest of the world. Doctor Who gets alien invasions, Torchwood gets sheepfuckers. Hardly seems fair.

Though I've got to say one complaint I have with the Doctor Who series is that they keep bringing in the last Dalek/Daleks, only to wipe them all out. Granted, this last time, they didn't do it, but they killed off the "last" Daleks like four times over the course of three seasons.

But seeing as how that's really my only complaint....

ct2k, I'd recommend trying out some of the new episodes. Personal picks would include "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances," Which are parts 1 and 2 respectively; "The Christmas Invasion," Which is the first real appearance of David Tennant (He appears at the end of the last episode of the prior season, and there's a five minute special that bridges the two....); and "The Girl in the Fireplace." Some of my personal favorites.

Not quite a complete list, but I tried to avoid doing several where you had to watch two episodes or more to follow an arc. These are all from seasons 1 and 2 of the "new" series, which is really considered seasons 27+ of Doctor Who in general, but I don't know shit about them beyond these three seasons.
