It didn't matter if you loved or hated Rocky. And if I do recall around 2000 TPWW was FULL of people who HATED The Rock and said he was nothing more than WWE produced shit that was shoveled down our throats. Except they still watched Rock matches, they still watched Rock promos, they still checked out Rock's appearances on SNL and in movies...people don't do that with John Cena. People turn off their TVs when John Cena is around. The Rock captivated audiences, Cena has never come close to that.

In terms of character, style of promo, hell even matches they might be comparable, but as far as bringing that magical X-Factor, Cena doesn't cut it.
