Yeah, the deal is definitely a must for the Mets, not just for this year but also long term. Grabbing Santana would guarantee a 1-2 punch of Santana and Maine for the next few seasons which is crucial as there's no guarantees that Oliver Perez will return to the Mets with a good 2008 (fucking Boras is his agent) and Pedro will be a FA and he might totally break down.

If Fernando Martinez is what causes Omar to not make a deal...then the poor kid is gonna be the most heavily scrutinized player ever once he gets to the majors.
