I think a heel Mick Foley trying to cement his legacy after CM Punk says that Foley wasn't quite on the level of a Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, etc. Foley tells CM Punk that he will show Punk and the entire world why he is the "Hardcore Legend". CM Punk vs Mick Foley in an extreme rules match for the ECW title would be ratings if they let them go out there and try and put on a match worthy of the original ECW. I think they need to cement CM Punk as the new face of ECW and try and build the ECW brand on CM Punk.

Before Shelton Benjamin emerged as the likely challenger for the ECW Title at WrestleMania, this was my pick, too.
Personally, I'd probably go a little backwards with it, and have Punk play the heel, seeing as the fans do generally like Mick Foley. As a heel, even though he is surprisingly good in the role, he just doesn't seem right, to me. A smart-ass, "I'm better than the old ECW" Punk would be pretty fucking cool. He's been a face long enough to actually get away with the heel turn this time.
You just have Edge turn on Chavo Guerrero next week, and help Punk retain. CM Punk becomes a partner in Edge's alliance with Vickie Guerrero, and Punk and Edge help each other out, which leads to ECW Title matches against The Undertaker, Batista, Rey Mysterio and a face Chavo Guerrero for Punk. Throw in Tommy Dreamer, and then Mick Foley, and you've got a pretty decent reign for Punk. Eventually, you can have Foley and maybe even Dreamer pass the torch to Punk, and let him know that he is the guy at last, and it can kind of be a return back to his face ways, only this time with a little more tinge to his character.
