I didn't think it was a hoax, but I did think of the publicity it would get the movie. I loved Batman Begins, and has every intent of seeing The Dark Knight, but to be honest, my interest in the film has pretty much doubled with Ledger's passing.

I think him overdosing softens the blow a little. The man was a great actor (he was nominated for his work in Brokeback Mountain, and his transformation into The Joker seems nigh-perfect), so it's a huge loss to the entertainment industry, and a human life has ended. There are those negative aspects, but if the guy chose to overdose, and that was his wish, then that is his decision.

It sucks that a great actor is gone, though. My thoughts go out to those who knew him personally, too. An Australian, too.
