Cena's character is easily fixable, which would make him infinitely more enjoyable. He's capable of some good matches without being carried, and he's definitely got charisma. But if they shove him down our throats, we'll get sick of him. If they water him down, we'll get sick of him. If he wins all the time...Well, you get the point.
But Heyman has come upon the crux of the matter, that Cena sucks because WWE sucks, not the other way around. Now, I'm not saying that WWE's done nothing right or that it's all Vince's fault, or whatever words someone's surely going to put in my mouth after the fact, just that the bad booking created Cena.
Jericho shows up, and it's like, "So what?" Orton doesn't seem to be very over right now, though maybe it was just a "bad crowd" the last time I watched. Hardy's over, and it looked like they were gonna work with it, and now Jeff's stepping aside for the Cena express. DX keeps popping back up, and I'm sure it's because it's another big merch mover. But it's boring, it's nothing like the old DX, and they have to pipe in cheers to make it seem like the crowd gives a shit. That's bad.
And Triple H in general...NEXT!
And while I'm at it, this Vince/Hornswiggle thing isn't going anywhere right now. It was kind of entertaining for a while, but really...It's old now. We get it. Vince's ass doesn't equal ratings, and the crowds seem to care less and less even about him getting outsmarted.
They still have a lot to work with, but Cena's just the most irritating symptom of the shitty booking going on. Sorry, "scriptwriting" by "agents" and "Messiahs": or whatever they're called now.
I'd honestly like to watch Raw again, but every time I turn the TV on Monday Nights, I find myself wondering what else is on, or just turning off the TV.
