No they wouldn't.
Even though Sandman is one of the few wrestlers where the music is actually important to the character (as opposed to, say, Cena) he still would have been booked the same way.
If they had wrestling bookers who knew what they were doing he could have been huge. Otherwise, nothing would have changed.
