As for "Snake" being "Big Boss" in Snake Eater although likely, everything is not what it seems when it comes to Metal Gear Solid.

what is Big Boss's actual name I wonder before he was ever the "Big Boss". I know they refer to him as the "Legendary Soldier" in the game, but maybe he had an alias before that. My his name was just "Snake" without a solid,solidus, liquid etc. Maybe it's "Snake Eater" who knows.
