Like I've said a hundred times. I don't care about little things, but core elements should be used in an adaptation. Or else it's not an adaptation is it?

Those three movies captured the mood and feel of the comics well, but were not as close to source material as you think (though Spider-Man always had a filmable origin).

I wouldn't call a monkey tail a core element, it was more like one of the many 'rules' to adjust combat in DBZ when the plot called for it. Lets not forget most of DBZ's plots were wacky reasons to see two powerful characters fight in the first place, the Dragonball and Frieza Saga being the only real stories worth telling. I like to think the Frieza Saga is a sequel to the Dragonball thing.
