The only problem with DVD Shrink is that they stopped supporting it a few years ago. So some DVDs with new protection might not copy well with it. Instead of going for just DVD Shrink, get RipIt4Me. It's a program that runs a series of small programs (including DVD Shrink). You can either try and rip it straight from DVD Shrink or go through and remove protection with DVD Decrypter. It has a one click mode that does it all for you.
However, sometimes that's not enough too because some companies try their best to keep their stuff protected (go figure). You may need something like AnyDVD some time down the road but more than likely you will only need to run it maybe once or twice.
I don't convert files because of the length of time it takes or the lack of quality it usually draws but I know there has been some tutorials in this forum that tells you how.
