It sucked. And it's going to flop hard, even with a low budget. They failed to come up with a good plot. The plot given would have been weak for a 43 minute episode, let alone a movie. There was nothing exciting and no substance, and nothing creepy or mysterious about it. It was hardly even supernatural.
There was also little to no 'investigating' or detective work/ suspenseful situations for Mulder and Scully. Scully literally had no reason to be there, and Mulder hardly did either.
Lame. All those years and all the stuff going on in the world and that's the best premise they can come up with. They've come up with hundred of stories more fit for a big screen than that, and they couldn't drum up something really creepy and exciting.
Sadly, I think the 2012 invasion movie revisiting the mythology and everything would probably be good by nature. I bet it would be awesome, and they probably should have just done that instead of this. What's sad about it, is because of this now that's probably never going to get made. Epic fail all around.
