The major issue is that they generally get cheered for one thing, and then turned into a face which does another thing entirely. And 99% of the time, that other thing ends up being "kiss up to the fans," which was almost certainly the antithesis of what he was doing to get over in the first place.
I miss Eddie, because he was over as a face who still did a lot of the "bad" things that got him over. He lied. He cheated. He stole. He got mad pops. You don't need to blow the crowd to be a face, you don't need to be a superman, or whatever.
But again. This is the Anti-Tude Era. Vince is trying to appeal to the Saturday Morning cartoons crowd.
