You can still have these kinds of characters. Hell, in the olden days the WWF had Jack Tunney to handle controversies and make title matches. But the GM doesn't need 20 minutes every frickin' week...did Edge really need to attack Eric Bischoff to get him face pops? Do we really need to have EB spend the next few weeks "making his life hell" to get Edge over?
It's tired. Keep the GM. Just don't make them integral parts of the show.
