Even if Smackdown completely sucks I can't see it being anywhere near as bad as TNA Impact. Now that I've beaten season mode it has absolutely no replay value whatsoever. The only thing that gives me any satisfaction in the game at all is hitting the cool springboard moves.
If you notice, the kicks and punches are very similar to the old WWF games "Wrestlemania: the Arcade Game" and "In Your House." The lunge kick (Strong kick from a distance) and the ground stomps / punches are almost exactly the same as in that game. This game is basically just Pit Fighter with a few wrestling moves and throws thrown in for fun.
Every time I think of this game I feel like the "Angry Nintendo Nerd" from Cinemasscare.com.
The thing about Smackdown is that even if it's a horrible wrestling game, at least it's a WRESTLING game. I was looking forward to playing as AJ Styles so I could hit the Pele out of nowhere, surprise an opponent with the moonsault inverted DDT, hit the Spiral Tap for a pin fall... I get NONE of that. The only move that is in there that I mentioned is the inverted DDT, but every high flyer has the move so it doesn't feel exclusive.
Then, you beat the game and they are BRAGGING about the game in the credits. "Boy, we sure showed our critics wrong." WHAT!? Out of the kindness of my own heart I gave these guys a chance, and now I'm not sure if I'll ever do anything nice for anyone again.
