Dunno. Honestly, I just plug in my HDMI cable and turn on the PS3. Sets up automatically.

Turn your PS3 off. Unplug the standard AV cable from the system completely. Plug in the HDMI cable only and turn it on. PS3 will detect HDMI then. If you have standard AV cables and HDMI hooked up, it is gonna detect and use the AV because those are the primary output.

If that doesn't work, you got a faulty cable. Happens with HDMI occasionally. You have the exact same HDMI cable I have, so it should work. Hope this helps.
