Back in the early 80's,Paul Ellering started a stable of wrestlers and called them "The Legion Of Doom".The stable consisted of: Hawk,Animal,The Spoiler,Jake Roberts,King Kong Bundy,Arn Anderson, and Buzz Sawyer (a pretty ****ing kick ass group at the time if you ask me).
The group pretty much fell apart, and they continued to call themselves The Road Warriors, until they went to the WWF,and were called The LOD (because of WWE's great "no two people with even remotely similar names" rule - they didn't want any confusion between the Road Warriors and Ultimate Warrior).
When they went back to WCW,they were called The Road Warriors again, and then returned to WWF to be LOD once again; and then LOD 2000.

In the WWF though I'm pretty sure I remember them being announced as: Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal: The Legion of Doom!!!!
