Dunno, for stuff like Dragonball, and Naruto, that have really distinctive visual styles, it can be almost impossible to translate to live action without sucking, as you said.

But stuff like cowboy bebop, that has a more realistic style to it, is definitely easier, and at least has a chance. I mean, given today's tech, I can't think of anything they can't bring over from the show, and represent it well. With the exception of ed. Don't see Ed translating well to the big screen, no matter who they get.
