The idea of Edge turning face is just ridiculous, at this point. He got into the match by beating down a guy who never hurt anybody, and slimed his way to his eighth World Title victory.
John Cena getting eliminated as quickly as he did was the most shocking thing about the match. Figured it would come between Cena and Edge, with Edge doing something heelishly cool to win the title, setting up a match between the two for WrestleMania. I mean, it's just hard not to see Cena in the World Heavyweight Title match at Mania, unless he's working with Stone Cold Steve Austin, or something.
On the topic of Austin, I do think that he would put Jericho over. He's been a fan of his for years, and Jericho is only getting better and better. Putting Jericho over would be a great nudge for him. But wasn't it implied that Jericho was challenging Ric Flair?
The way that Edge worked with Rey Mysterio -- and the way Edge attacking Kofi really got to Rey -- seems like it could be to set-up an Edge vs. Rey feud over the World Title. I know people don't see Rey as a credible main eventer, or whatever, but maybe the WWE feels guilty about the way they mishandled him in 2006? He's got such good chemistry with Edge, and the fans would be definitely behind Rey. Is it too insane to suggest that the WWE might run Edge vs. Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Title?
I think if the WWE had plans to do Edge vs. CM Punk, they would have had CM Punk come out to check on his former tag team partner at No Way Out, after he had been attacked by Edge. Something like that could have served as a foreshadowing, but they instead used it to further tension between Edge and Rey Mysterio, instead.
