Exactly. Sometimes things just take on a meaning of their own.

Did you know that Chairman doesn't designate itself to a male? The "man" in "Chairman" represents "manual." That doesn't mean Stephanie McMahon is going to come out announced as "Chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment" when she takes over.
