When MSN is open, just double-click the item in the system tray, and the main window should open. From there just go to Tools > Options > General, then uncheck it
With me there are two versions running: Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger.

I'm trying to shut off Windows Messenger, yet I can't get to its main main window because there is no icon that shows that it's running
