Bret's life sure as hell didn't. He has made a lifestyle from bitching about one match for 10 years.
I'll give him all due credit. His five moves of doom were decent, and his run as the underdog was nice, but let's face facts- Everyone that HBK steps in the ring with gets overshadowed by HBK in the long run.
