Jericho doesn't need anything. Jericho is guaranteed gold in pretty much everything he does. However, if WWE wanted to build up a younger guy by making him Jericho's lackey, then ok. But that wouldn't be helping Jericho. Mike Knox would be a good fit in that role.

However, given the writers' tendencies to book tag team matches where the lackey almost always loses, I don't see a Jericho lackey or any other lackey program working.

And that's 100% on creative. The days of lackeys/bodyguards like Diesel, Batista, Orton, and even Chyna are long gone. They haven't done a good lackey/bodyguard storyline in ages. They always just use the lackey as a jobber to the mentor's feud opponent. It didn't work with Cade, it didn't work with Ryder and Hawkins, it didn't work the Spirit Squad, it didn't work with Big Daddy V, it didn't work with Bam Neely, and I dare say it isn't working now with Rhodes and Dibiase.
