There are issues with x300's amd WMV apparantly, but the latest ATI Catalyst drivers should sort them. If not, reinstall DirectX and check video hardware accelration is at full (If I remember right in XP it's properties on desktop, display and then advanced)

If the slider of hardware accelration is at full, try moving the slider down and playing the video again until you get all the way to the bottom. If it's still there, god knows.
