I have just read online that the reason for the reshoots were simply to add multiple endings to the film. Apparently they are gonna do much like they did with X3. Different sets of prints are gonna have different sets of endings after the credits.
It was one of the few things that I actually liked about X3 but I never saw these alternate endings. Just read about them online. Will be interesting to see these because word is each one has to do with a different character from the movie.
