Well the way many people are accepting it is in this movie we see a more human version of Sabretooth in the form of Creed. But during the movie as you can see his animal instincts start to take over more. More people are accepting this as the earlier form of Sabretooth by simply saying that the time between this movie and the first Xmen movie gives Creed enough time for his full animal insticts to evolve for him to be the monster you see in the other film.
