An 18 game regular season would be fucking brutal. 16 games is already too much as it is. Preseason games are not the same as regular season games either. Few starters are even able to play a whole 16 games in the span of a season.

It would also inflate statistics/win-loss records to a point where you would have these stupid arguments over whether someone who threw 50 touchdowns in 18 games should be counted as a record and bullshit bullshit bullshit.
