I can see the WWE having him come out with a new design or something, but I can actually see a benefit from him losing the mask. It freshens up Rey, and it creates a more "human" connection with crowds. I mean, Rey has been on fire in the ring recently, but he hasn't gotten too much attention for it because he is the same old Rey Mysterio. Granted, I know Rey has wrestled without a mask before, but never in the WWE.

Wrestling maskless would be like a "Whoa! Rey doesn't have a mask!" moment for fans, and could add some intensity to him. They could change his ring attire to feature the mask design, so that they can still market the masks to kids and stuff. As someone suggested, he could also come out in the mask prior to his big matches.

Maybe the WWE is also doing an experiment to see if Rey Mysterio is the draw to the kiddies and Hispanics, or if the mask is the draw? Either way, I am far more interested in the Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio feud than I was before. They just need to get the IC Title out of it, because both Jericho and Rey are above the belt. Yes, I want it to be prestigious, too, but they've already both given it a rub by holding it (again, in Jericho's case).
