That's what I want to say, and while it's true, it is also a temptation. If you keep dying in one spot a couple times, you may just go ahead and use this. Where if you kept doing it just a few more times you could have gotten it and the satisfaction/award would be all the better. I think the only way I would appreciate something like this is if it becomes an option after dying/getting stuck X amount of times. In the end, for a Mario Game I know I could get through it just fine and doubt I would ever use it, but with it being there who knows. Perhaps I'd want to get through a level quickly, and just go through it.
I think this would actually work better for 360/PS3 for the achievements/awards. By getting something in return for beating a game and never using this, there is more reason to not use it. Other people can see if you went the easy way or not. But for the Wii, it will really only be yourself who knows, so its a matter of what you can live with.
