I was just watching a video on sherdog where fedor was being interviewed by himself. I guess we are all forgetting that Fedor was NOT contracted with affliction. Fedor signed a contract with M-1 Global a while back and I think we are again forgetting that M-1 is a fight promotion. He went on to say that he has three fights left on his contract with M-1 and that he is very happy with his contract, however he has his obligations to it and he wants to fulfill his obligations.

When everyone says that M-1 is his managers, theyre really his promoters. I guess you would think of it like if other organizations really wanted Lesnar and they wanted to do a deal with him and UFC said they had to co-promote with them to be able to have him.

Now thats a shady fuckin deal theyre running over there but its actually very smart. Fedor never actually fights in M-1, but wherever he fights, it has to be co-promoted with M-1. Basically, they make a ton of profit with barely any expense. They have to help pay for maybe production costs, but they dont have to touch the incredibly high purses that affliction was giving out to its contracted fighters, and they take whatever percent of the profits be it 50/50 or 75/25 etc. Basically you can look at M-1 as a parasite in the MMA world which is another reason why Affliction went down so fast because they were getting whatever percent of their profits sucked away by M-1.

Theres obviously more to it then we know and lets face it Russia is a brutal country and its not really a secret that the mafia is involved in much of what goes on there such as politics or sports. Im not saying Fedor is in with the mafia, but if he were to bail on a russian contract, Im saying the punishment might be a little more harsh than lawsuit.
